Cap That! Asks teachers to turn to Captions
Media Access Australia is asking teachers around Australia to cap that! and simply turn on captions on DVDs, online videos and TV shows used in the classroom to improve literacy for all students. Captions are essential for Deaf and hearing impaired students, and boost comprehension in ESL students, struggling readers and children with learning disabilities. The Centre of Excellence for Students who are Deaf and Hard of Hearing is a statewide leader in providing information, research and advice to educational policy makers, and teaching and support staff who work with deaf students in Victoria. The Centre of Excellence envisages a post secondary education system where deaf students will have positive learning experiences of Vocational Education and Training (VET) that enable them to move onto further training and/or suitable and satisfying employment equivalent to the wider community.
