This premiere event occurs every two years and provides a focal point for all organisations and businesses that have links to people with a hearing loss to come together to exhibit and showcase their wares. The Expo caters for all types of hearing loss, whether from childhood or acquired in adult life, as well as caters for all means of communication.
Exhibitors range from specialist service providers in education, employment, case management, technology, hearing aids, sign language acquisition, hearing loss prevention, interpreting, cochlear implant, deaf arts and sport, manufacturers and retailers of specialised hearing equipment, and community support groups. In addition, seminars and activities are held concurrently with the stalls.
Those who should attend the Expo include:
- deaf and hearing impaired adults and children; their families and friends
- the general public interested in knowing about deafness and hearing loss, people working with deafness and those considering such work as a career
- employers and employee organisations
- HR and OH&S professionals, responsible for managing workplace environments and safety
- business and commercial interests, including government departments.
The Expo was held most recently in September 2006. Enquiries about the Expo should be directed to the Information Team at the Victorian Deaf Society (Vicdeaf).
