The Student Exit Program is an exciting new pilot program developed by the NMIT Information Technology Department. The program aims to provide and equip students studying at NMIT with the necessary skills, contacts and career advice to help prepare them for future success in the IT industry. The Student Exit Program adds value to your existing studies by giving you the edge when it comes to planning your transition from study to employment.

Delivery Strategy
Preparatory Workshops Student workshops in:
  • Professional cover letter & resume writing (specific to IT)
  • Job search strategies
  • Completing a job application
  • Interview preparation & techniques
  • Developing a skills portfolio
Introduction to Recruitment Agencies Students are introduced to several key recruitment agencies and
are given the opportunity to speak to recruitment specialists specific
to their training and qualifications.
Available University/Certification
Pathways and RPL Recognition
Students interested in continuing on to University and/or Industry
Accredited Certification are offered an information seminar on
available pathways and Recognition of Prior Learning ( RPL )
recognition.
Graduate Work Placement Opportunities Work experience and various work placement opportunities will
also be offered to honour students in their trained profession.
Workplace Mentoring Program Students are also invited to participate in a Workplace
Mentoring Program that matches students with an industry
professional to assist in preparation for life after
graduation. Past students are also invited to share their
experience & knowledge in gaining meaningful employment
& working within the I.T. industry.
