Orientation
Student Activities Staff organise a range of orientation activities on all campuses in the first few weeks of each semester.
Activity details can be found on the NMIT Student Intranet.
Induction
Information sessions for new students are organised by teaching departments.
These sessions focus on the NMIT Student Experience with information about Student Services, student rights and responsibilities.
Induction session information is available from teaching departments or the Student Intranet.
Student Accommodation
On-campus student accommodation is available at NMIT's own Yarra House, centrally located at our picturesque Fairfield Campus.

Student Services can also assist students to find alternative Student Housing and Accommodation solutions.
Student Counselling
Qualified staff are available to discuss issues students have which may be interfering in their course and social activities. The service is provided free of charge to students.
Services include:
- Personal and crisis counselling
- Career and course advice
- Group programs on a range of issues
- Financial advice
- Referral to a range of community agencies and resources

Study Support is also available from the Study Skills Advisory Service – Ph. 9269 1372.
Disability Support
Students with disabilities are not disadvantaged at NMIT.
Support is available for students whose learning is affected by physical, intellectual, sensory, psychiatric or neurological disabilities or chronic medical conditions.
This support may include equipment loans, adaptive technology, notetakers, tutors, signing interpreters and course materials provided in alternative formats.
Availability of certain support services is subject to funding.

Student Activities Representatives
NMIT students can become Student Activities Reps and assist in the delivery of on and off campus events. For more information about acting as a Student Activities Rep contact the Student Activities Office on 9269 1316.
First Aid / Health
Facilities and trained first aid staff are available at each campus to assist with emergency and general first aid.
Recreation & Activities
A fully-equipped gymnasium is located at the Preston Campus. Memberships are available on a term by term basis.
On and off campus activities are always on the agenda for students.
Sports competitions involving other Victorian TAFEs are arranged each year. Sporting activities include soccer/indoor soccer, football, table-tennis, netball and basketball.
Campus Rap is a published by Student Services each term. Campus Rap provides students with information about upcoming activities, available accommodation, freebies and other relevant campus news.
