Student Services assists students with permanent, short term and emergency accommodation. The service is provided free of charge to students. The accommodation is either close to or within easy access (public transport) of NMIT campuses. Listings are usually share accommodation available in private houses, units, flats, or self-contained bungalows.
Accommodation lists are regularly updated on the NMIT Student Intranet.
The Student Housing and Support Officer can further assist students with up-to-date information regarding a variety of rental accommodation, local hostel, hotels and real estate agents. Yarra House
The best bet for student accommodation is NMIT's own Yarra House, located within the grounds of our Fairfield campus. Yarra House is operated by Campus Living Villages, and offers the latest in on-campus accommodation. Visit the Yarra House website at www.yarrahouse.com.au.
Homestay for International Students
Homestay is available to international students only, a two month minimum stay is required. Homestay includes the provision of a bedroom, two meals per day and access to shared facilities in a private home. Contact the student housing and support officer for further details.
Accommodation for Country Apprentices
Students who are attending NMIT for block release and trade school programs can obtain further information regarding short term accommodation by contacting the Student Services Department: on (03) 9269 1624.
Emergency Accommodation Service
Students in need of emergency accommodation should be referred in the first instance to the Counselling Service at the appropriate campus, or contact the Housing and Support Officer.
