THOMAS THRUPP – Preston foundation staff member 1937 – 1940.
A gifted teacher lost to war.
In February 1937 the Principal of Preston Technical School, received a letter from the Education Department of Victoria informing him of a number of new appointments to the staff. One was Mr Thomas W Thrupp, as Senior Assistant - Grade II – Classes D and C, commencing at 348 pounds sterling per annum.

KEN FYFFE – Preston foundation student 1937 – 39
Skills equip the ‘original Preston Tech boy’ for life.
Aside from being a Preston Technical School foundation student, Ken Fyffe could be considered something of a prototype NMIT student having attended both Preston and Collingwood Technical Schools decades before the two amalgamated to become the modern entity known as NMIT.

Chris Bennett
Collingwood Technical School 1965–1969
Chris Bennett studied all the subjects offered by Collingwood Technical School in the mid-60s, including music, English, physics, chemistry, mathematics, sheetmetal work, woodwork, turning and fitting, electrical, art, clay modelling, social studies, and either religious instruction or sex education.
