Greg Arnold

Greg Arnold is a Senior Lecturer and the Head of Program of the NMIT Bachelor of Music Industry. He is also a singer-songwriter, producer and performer. He has won an ARIA with his band Things of Stone and Wood and the prestigious APRA Songwriter of the Year award. He has a substantial recording back catalogue which includes two top ten albums, the summery top ten hit "Happy Birthday Helen", and a top four radio played song: "Wildflowers". As a producer his recordings have enjoyed national and international play-listing and critical acclaim.

Working regularly in Nashville, his work with Carus Thompson, Chloe Hall and Skipping Girl Vinegar has helped develop them as significant recording artists. As an educator his production work with students Georgia Fields and Stonefield contributed to their inclusion in Sydney Morning Herald’s 2011 "Next Big Thing" list, with the latter winning JJJ Unearthed High 2010, signing to Warners and appearing at the Glastonbury Rock Festival.

His lyric "Silent no longer" was published in Rolling Stone, where "Junk Theatre" also scored a four star review. His song for the Red Cross "Close My Eyes" received considerable national and international television and radio broadcast.

He has an Honours Arts degree in English Literature from Melbourne University, a Masters of Education (Arts Administration) from RMIT and is currently a confirmed PhD candidate at University of Tasmania with a research focus on Songwriting and Record Production. He is also a member of the Music Victoria Education Advisory Group.
