Tell us a little about yourself.
I finished my schooling from Pakistan doing ‘O’ level and ‘A’ level qualification. After completing ‘A’ level I wanted to do Engineering from a good university. I got in touch with my uncle and he advised me to go to Australia for further qualifications as the education system in Australia is based upon practical experience and is recognized around the world.

What influenced you to study Engineering Technology at NMIT?
The fact that NMIT offered the course of my choice and is among the top-notch educational Institutions in Melbourne influenced me to join the Institute

How did you find out about NMIT?
My uncle, who is an educational consultant, helped me to make the correct decision about the appropriate educational institution, which was NMIT. I had a look at the NMIT website, it seemed to be a good institution. My uncle told me that another Pakistani student had enjoyed studying at NMIT.

What advice would you give to students considering studying Engineering Technology at NMIT?
It is the best choice I ever made. The teachers are friendly, helpful and approachable. The course has a lot of variety, like robotics, project management, CAD, welding, mechanical practice, mechanical drive components etc. It has been an excellent experience at NMIT. I knew nothing about this field before, but this course has given me a real insight into a world of engineering. My advice is to try this course, you will enjoy it.

What is next for you?
My plan is to do Automotive Engineering at RMIT University. With the NMIT studies, I will get admission into the third year of the Bachelor of Engineering and it will take only two more years to complete the degree. Then I will do postgraduate. After that I will go back and take over my father’s business.

What's been the most valuable lesson you've learnt along the way?
I have made multicultural friends, and seen how they are living together like one nation, which is the best thing in Australia. I have learnt to organise myself more and now my life is becoming more multicultural I have enjoyed studying as an overseas student in Australia.
