Tell us a little about yourself
I completed my secondary school studies in year 2001. I was a senior prefect in my school and I took part to many events in the school during my studies. After I finished school I wanted to do something different and relevant to job market. Then I completed a Diploma of Information Technology course at NICD institute Polgolla in Sri Lanka under the direction of my dear parents.

What influenced you to study Information Technology at NMIT?
When I was studying at NICD the former managing director -International Office in NMIT came to our institute and holds a seminar about courses of NMIT. From that I could be able to know that students who are completing courses at NICD can do their further studies at NMIT with exemptions. Thenceforth I started to think about study at NMIT.

How did you find out about NMIT?
NICD institute conducts courses with the collaboration of NMIT. Evaluation and supervision of the course are conducted according to Australian training evaluation criteria and certificated are awarded jointly by NMIT and NICD. I got enough information about NMIT.

What advice would you give to students considering studying Information Technology at NMIT?
Actually studying at NMIT is a great opportunity I ever had in my life. The course is well planned and easy to follow. The teachers are very friendly and dedicated. I am really enjoying the course. I always try to learn new things about the world. NMIT has given me a great opportunity to know new things about the world making good friends from different countries. Not only that but also I could earn some extra money doing a part time job while I am studying. My advice is trying to do something new and different. You may really love it.

What is next for you?
My next plan is to complete a degree at RMIT University. With exemptions for my NMIT studies it will only take one and half years. After that I want to apply for permanent residency in Australia. And then I want to find a good job in the computer industry.

What's been the most valuable lesson you've learnt along the way?
I believe that life is a tough obstacle in itself. I also believe that we were put here to survive and do as best we can through all of life’s troubles that are thrown at us and also to enjoy the good times that come, take nothing for granted and appreciate life itself. May be we were put on this earth to try and achieve the best we can.
