Other fees

In addition to a tuition contribution, all eligible students pay a Student Services and Amenities Fee. This fee allows NMIT to provide support and recreational services to students at a free or heavily subsidised rate: http://www.nmit.vic.edu.au/about/student_services/

The Student Services and Amenities Fee is calculated based on student contact hours as follows:

  • Minimum Fee: $45 (no concession)
  • Maximum Fee: $135.00

Depending on the course area, students may also incur additional compulsory fees due to material costs. A material cost refers to items you are required to purchase as part of your course. For example, Hospitality students will need to buy a Chef’s uniform, while students enrolled in Trades related courses may be required to purchase a tool kit. It is advisable to clarify material fees with the relevant department prior to enrolment http://www.nmit.vic.edu.au/departments

Please note that students will have to incur text books as an additional fee.

VET Fee Help (Diplomas & Advanced Diplomas)

NMIT has been approved as a VET provider under the VET FEE-HELP Assistance Scheme and will be able to offer VET FEE-HELP assistance to ongoing and new students. Students wishing to access VET FEE-HELP assistance are invited to discuss their eligibility with NMIT or refer to the DEEWR website for additional information.

Refunds

Students must withdraw from their course within four weeks of the official commencement date in order to receive a refund. This is relevant to all courses except for those that fall under the Skills Deepening category.

NMIT will refund tuition fees that exceed the minimum fee and the entire amount paid towards the Student Services and Amenities Fee (and will only refund amenities not used).

Cancellation of part of an enrolment - NMIT will refund the portion of the tuition, materials and amenities fee that is relevant to the modules that have been cancelled.

Course Cancellation – In this instance NMIT will refund the full tuition amount, the pro rata portion of the Student Services and Amenities fee that has been paid and any other amount that has been paid for materials or services that have not been used prior to course cancelation.

Recognition of Prior Learning (RPL) – Students who have been granted RPL http://www.nmit.vic.edu.au/course_info/skills_recognition/ after paying full tuition fees will be refunded the difference between the original tuition fee paid and the tuition fee that is payable for the adjusted study load.

VET FEE-HELP – Students who are entitled to VET FEE-HELP assistance and who have paid any portion of the tuition fee before the Census Date (TBC), will have the tuition fee payment refunded if the student is no longer enrolled at the time of Census Date.
