Born in Australia, I spent my teenage years in Chile, South America. I came back to Australia in 2000 to further my musical knowledge, studying the guitar as part of the Advanced Diploma in Music Performance at NMIT under Jack Pantazis and Tom Fryer. Since then, I have continued my studies on guitar with Doug DeVries and Craig Fermanis, as part of my third year of the Bachelor of Music.

I'm Constance and I am currently enjoying my second year studying the Bachelor of Illustration at NMIT. I am from a very small town in north east Victoria called Eldorado and made the move to Melbourne January last year to study after sort of falling into the illustration course when my interviewer, for the fine arts course I was trying to get into at (ahem) another institute, suggested that NMIT's illustration course would be better suited to my style. He was right and I am loving the course.

Replicat has a long-standing relationship with NMIT. We’ve produced CD album stocks for students and staff, guest lectured to the music business management program and supported and promoted NMIT student song-writing through our annual Catapult Song Contest. Replicat is proud to sponsor the NMIT ComposeREAnimaTE collaborative project between Animators and Composers.

ComposeREanimATE is a collaborative project between 3rd year Bachelor of Music and 2nd year Bachelor of Illustration students at NMIT. The outcome will be a series of short animated films which will become submissions in a competition, with the best collaborating team winning NMIT's inaugural Best Animation-Composition Collaboration Award, to be judged by Industry Professionals

Composition and sound effects done for my animation!!

Last week I finished the composition and syncing of effects for the Angry Little Elephant. This was pretty easy as Jay and I agreed to use the compositional ideas I had sent a couple of weeks earlier. All I needed to do was make all the sync points meet up and change some tempos and add a couple of 3/4 …

Working From Home, symbol animation isn’t as bad as I thought.

We now have a week off from classes to finish our folios for this semester and thank God I now have Flash at home! I generally work on the animation at night and so far I have animated all the movement, plus the title and the end credits, except for the opening scene which I have a second left to …

I HAVE MUSIC FOR MY ANIMATION!

I finally met Maddie in person today and she showed me her finished score that she handed in today. The music is fantastic! It has gone beyond all of my expectations. Maddie has really drawn inspiration from the ‘Black Books’ into theme and it sounds really seedy and cruisey which matches the feel of the characters perfectly. As you can …

I still have to many frames to draw and the end is drawing near!

I am still drawing in all of my frames, and Even though I have made a large dent there is still so much to do! Some of my scenes are animated on 2s and some are animated on 3s and it’s amazing the difference between the two methods. The 3s are a lot clunkier and the movement isn’t as fluid. …

Compose/animate

So Jay did like the compositions and he also liked the instrumentation I used of the three that I sent him.We thought it would be good to use one for the intro and the others for the actual animation and ending credits. Now i just have to find a way of linking them smoothly. I recently received an animatic file …

The Creative Process

So to come up with ideas for the animation I kept my preview program open so I could tab back and forth between ProTools, Kontak2 and the jpg image of the Angry Little Elephant. This way I could hear if the music I write represents the characters features. In the end I came up with three ideas that I feel represent …

It Never Ends!

There really isn’t much to report except for the fact that it took we two classes to draw and redraw 3 seconds of my animation…and that was just the rough sketches! This is going to be so fun! Despite the tedious nature of the animation process I am enjoying myself. (She says through gritted teeth). I finally had contact with …

Where do I start?

So much to animate, so little time. Hello again, so far nothing very exciting has happened. However, I have at least started to animate my story…..a little. The week before last we grabbed our story boards and made extremely rough animatics where you suss out the timing for the animation by playing one of the frames from your storyboard for …

It Has Begun

So I guess since this is my first post I better introduce myself…….more than what the profile says. My name is Con and this is basically my fist attempt at a ‘proper’ animation other than my awesome stick figure flip books that were all the rage in grade 3. The first time I ever used Flash was last year to …
