Civil engineering involves improving our environment and living standards with the design and construction of large works such as roads, bridges, commercial and industrial buildings, water supply, irrigation, water and sewage treatment schemes, and small works such as recreational facilities, car parks etc.
In the first year of studies, students study basic mathematics and communication skills, drafting and surveying. The first year is covered by the Diploma of Engineering Technology (Civil).
In the second year, students study advanced drafting techniques as well as road, drainage and structural design.

The first year is made up of units from the Diploma of Engineering Technology (Civil).

All core units must be completed satisfactorily. Students coming from a non trade background must complete all elective units.

This course is not taking new enrolments in 2010
