The first year of this course is the dual Certificate IV in Information Technology (Networking) & (Programming) in which the student completes 995 hours of study.

Students successfully completing the first year of the course (Certificate IV) can progress into second year (Advanced Diploma) in which they are able to concentrate their second year studies in one of two streams: Network Security or Systems Development.

The Advanced Diploma of Information Technology (Network Security) stream concentrates on the development of skills that will allow graduates to manage the security aspects of a network within an organisation. The skill areas looked at include network design, building a network, network security, managing security, e-business solutions and project management.

This course also has integrated within it the Diploma of Information Technology (Networking). Upon the successful completion of the year's study, the student is eligible to apply for certificates in the Advanced Diploma of Information Technology (Network Security) and the Diploma of Information Technology (Networking).

Pathways to Further Study

Students completing the Advanced Diploma may be eligible for exemptions into various Victorian university courses. The amount of credit will depend on the type of university course students wish to enter. Please contact the university entrance office directly. Students will receive 120 credit points (equivalent to one and a half years) if they are accepted into the Bachelor of Information Systems at the Australian Catholic University.
