The Certificate IV in Music forms the first year of the Advanced Diploma of Music.

Full-time:

810 hours (year 2). The Advanced Diploma is a two-year course that incorporates a Certificate IV in Music within the first year of study.

Pathways to Further Study
Students who have completed the Advanced Diploma are eligible for one full year of credit if accepted into the three-year NMIT program Bachelor of Australian Popular Music.
Career Opportunities
Graduates of these courses may gain employment as musicians, music teachers, arrangers, performers, producers or agents.
Entrance Requirements
Local Students:
Entrance is via VTAC Application and also requires an audition, interview and theory test at NMIT (book online). Auditions are held in from October to early December. Year one entry is at Certificate IV level. Experienced industry practitioners and/or applicants with previous qualifications at the relevant level may gain entry directly into Year 2 Advanced Diploma.
International Students:
Australian Year 12 (or recognised equivalent) or relevant work experience. IELTS 5.5 or higher (or recognised equivalents). Mature Age. A recorded audition must also be supplied with your application, this may be uploaded to a website, or provided on CD.Materials

Student assessments are based on the practical application of skills and knowledge.

How to Apply:
Local Students
Full-time:
Entrance is via VTAC only and requires an audition, interview and theory test.
Applicants will be required to book an audition/interview online between August and November, or by contacting the department.
Auditions/interviews are held from October to early December, and applicants must attend to be considered for the program.
Highly experienced practitioners may gain direct entry into the Advanced Diploma.
