The Advanced Diploma provides education and training for people who are currently employed in the health science industry and wanting to develop skills necessary to perform a broad range of remedial, sports and therapeutic massage techniques; or those wishing to gain employment in the field.

Students train at the NMIT Massage Centre.

Students who complete the qualification and who also hold a current level two first aid certificate are eligible to apply for membership with various massage associations.

Please Note:

  • Assessment in this course requires students to give and receive massages. Students who cannot meet these requirements for any reason should not enrol in the course.
  • Prospective students may also be required to submit to a police check.

Pathways to Further Study

No formal pathways to further study exist, however students who successfully complete the Advanced Diploma of Remedial Massage (Myotherapy) may apply to university.

Career Opportunities

Employment can be gained through either self-employment or working with clubs, other health professions, hospitals, resorts and fitness centres.

Entrance Requirements

Local Students:

Completion of Diploma of Remedial Massage HLT 50307 or equivalent. Prospective students may be required to attend an interview as part of the entrance requirements. Prospective students may also be required to submit to a police check.

International Students:

Australian Year 12 (or recognised equivalent) or relevant work experience. IELTS 5.5 or higher (or recognised equivalents). Mature Age.

Various forms of assessment may be used including: questioning, practical demonstration, written tests, portfolio, reports, assignments/essays, previous or current experience, oral presentations.

Some text books must be purchased as per booklist. Miscellaneous items such as oils, polo top and class materials etc. are also compulsory.
