In 2012, NMIT’s Associate Degree of Aquaculture and Environmental Management will offer a new learning environment, unique to Australia giving students who want to succeed in careers related to the Aquaculture and Environmental Management industry an inspiring experience.

Pathways to Further Study
Students who have completed a diploma in aquaculture or a related discipline may be eligible for selected subjects in the Associate Degree of Aquaculture and Environmental Management. Graduates of the associate degree will be equipped to continue on to the Bachelor of Aquaculture and Environmental Management.
Career Opportunities
Graduates may find employment in a multitude of aquculture industry enterprises as well as in the environmental management sector.
Entrance Requirements
Local Students:
Successful completion of Year 12 VCE/HSC with English, Mathematics, and one of Chemistry or Biology. Successful completion of a TAFE Diploma course in aquaculture or related discipline, or Mature age entry where applicants can demonstrate capacity to undertake work at degree level. Bridging programs are available in January/February in mathematics, chemistry and biology. Some scope may be allowed for credit transfers. Please contact the department for more information.
International Students:
Successful completion of Year 12 VCE/HSC or recognised equivalent with Biology, Chemistry and Mathematics, or Successful completion of a TAFE Diploma course in aquaculture, or Mature age entry where applicants can demonstrate capacity to undertake work at degree level. Bridging programs are available in January/February in mathematics, chemistry and biology. An additional requirement for international students is International English Language Testing System (IELTS) Level 6.0.Materials
Assessment Methods
Assessment will be based on one or more of the following: theory examinations, practical examinations, oral presentations, essays and assignments, field trip reports.
Materials
Students are required to purchase their own stationery and lab coat. Most of the text and resources are available through the library and the NMIT Student Portal.

Local Fees:

Units of Study
Credit points are a basic measure of student workload. All subjects are given a credit point value. Most subjects at NMIT are 12 credit points. A normal full-time annual workload is 96 credit points. The academic year is divided into two main semesters; full-time students usually enrol in 48 credit points each semester, part time students usually enrol in 24 credit points each semester or less.
