This Certificate I in ESL (Access) is offered through the Youth Unit's Young Adult Migrant Education Courses (YAMEC).

This post-beginner course is for young adults from non-English speaking backgrounds between 15 to 26 years old who have disrupted, incomplete or no prior education. The course aims to develop English language, numeracy and study skills to enter into study in more advanced ESL courses.

Develop your English skills using:

  • short, simple spoken instructions and information
  • short, simple messages and formatted texts
  • numerical and statistical information
  • basic instructions and information

Areas of study include:

  • Australian history, culture and art
  • Australian government
  • the Australian environment
  • basic computing skills, internet and email
