This course provides the technical training needed for employment in the pest control industry. An understanding of the assessment of pest problems and the many ways of controlling pests will be developed.

Skills Recognition - Exemptions/Transfers
Students enrolling in this course who have completed studies at other institutions should discuss the possibility of being exempted from related units in this course. If a student can demonstrate a full understanding of the unit from their work, then they may discuss the option of being assessed for units in their workplace. Students are eligible for Skills Recognition.

Each student will be assessed with small tasks including assignments and tests, oral activities and third party reports. Toward the end of the training course each student will be assessed either in his or her workplace or in a simulated situation.

This qualification may lead to further study in the Certificate IV in Asset Maintenance (Pest Management - Technical).

Career Opportunities

The Certificate III in Asset Maintenance (Pest Management - Technical) graduates may gain further employment in the pest control industry. Licensing to operate as a pest controller, by Department of Human Services will depend upon successful completion of nominated units of this course.

Entrance Requirements

It is expected that all entrants to this course will be employed in the pest control industry or will complete 160 hours of employment in the pest control industry prior to completion of the course.
