The Certificate III English for Hospitality is designed for students who want to work in the hospitality industry. This new course was developed in conjunction with the Hospitality Department. Students also enrol in the Certificate II in Hospitality (Kitchen Operations)

The Vocational Pathways Department and the Hospitality Department are offering an exciting new course that will assist students in obtaining the Certificate II in Hospitality (Kitchen Operations), which is designed for people who want a career in Hospitality, concentrating on the area of cookery.

The Certificate III in ESL Employment is a one year accredited English language course (15 hours each week) that will help students to improve their reading, writing, listening and speaking skills. Tasks and activities will be based around the content that they are studying for the Hospitality certificate.

The Certificate II in Hospitality (Kitchen Operations) involves 7 hours per week of practical kitchen work and 3 hours per week of theory.

Career Opportunities

Employment opportunities in the hospitality industry are excellent. Successful completion of this course may lead to employment as a cook grade 2 in a variety of outlets that may include hospitals, nursing homes, hotels, motels, restaurants, bistros, reception centres and resorts.

All applicants are interviewed before placement in the program.

Assessment Methods

Assessment is continuous and ongoing, focusing on the process of learning as well as the competency requirements of the modules of the ESL Framework, as well as competency in the workplace, during their work experience. As part of the assessment, students develop a folio of work. Training package modules will be assessed by an accredited assessor.

Course participants are also expected to purchase a uniform ($90) and have a basic equipment kit (approximately $150).
