This program is delivered through the ESL Framework. It is a program for adults of non-English speaking background at intermediate level.

Program content is dependent on the needs of students.

During the course the participants will :
• Develop and document a learning plan and portfolio
• Use Listening, Speaking, Reading and Writing skills with support to
-give oral presentations for further study
- read and write straightforward texts for research purposes
-Participate in a range of interactions and group activities for further study
-analyse and produce a range of straightforward texts

Students are advised to complete an English and study skills certificate at level 4 before going on to mainstream study.

Career Opportunities

Those students who achieve a certificate at level 3 are able to move into our Vocational Pathways Department to continue their English language and study skills training to assist them towards their goal of work or mainstream study.

Entrance Requirements

All applicants are interviewed before placement in the program.

Materials

Assessment Methods

There are no exams. Assessment is continuous and ongoing, focusing on the process of learning as well as the competency requirements of the modules of the ESL Framework and the Certificates in Spoken and Written English.

Materials

A range of materials and equipment are used during the course and students are provided with photocopied worksheets on a day-to-day basis. Students also have access to a range of facilities and services to assist with their learning and wellbeing while at TAFE. Independent Learning Centre Computer and Language Labs Vocational Counselling Library Facilities Sports and Recreational Facilities.
