There are no educational prerequisites for this course. Students should have basic literacy and mathematics skills.

Assessment Methods
Various forms of assessment may be used including: practical assessment, assignments, class work, self evaluation, direct observation.
Materials
For students based at Preston campus, a materials levy of $335 payable upfront at the start of the course. Students can expect to spend approximately $120 in further materials costs throughout the course. Textbook costs approximately $200. Specified text books, complete chef's uniform, knife kit. Traineeship applicants need to contact Hospitality and Tourism department in regard to fees.
