This Certificate III in Media is offered through the VCAL division of the Youth Unit.
This is not a VCAL program, however students may be eligible for credits towards a VCAL certificate by completing this course. The course will be tailored to the needs of young people from disadvantaged backgrounds, with a high level of support provided. The program is located at the Salvation Army, Brunswick Youth Services offices in Brunswick.
NMIT’s Certificate III in Media is designed to reflect the role required of a skilled operator in the digital media industry. Learn to apply a range of competencies in working environments where you will be required to provide technical advice and support to a team.
To attain the Certificate III in Media qualification, participants are required to complete 11 units that are made up of 3 core units and 8 elective units. Units of study come in five clusters:
- digital imaging A (100 hrs)
- 2D animation (75 hrs)
- multimedia development (110 hrs)
- occupational health and safety (20 hrs)
- web 1 (90 hrs)

- critical and creative thinking skills
- design process
- website maintenance
- 2D digital animations
- interactive content and sequences
- photo imaging
- visual design components
- working in the screen and media industries
- basic vision and sound editing

NMIT also offers other VCAL programs through the Youth Unit. The Certificate III in Media is also offered through the Information Technology Department.
