This program is delivered through the ESL Frameworks and the Certificates in Spoken and Written English. It is a program for adults of non-English speaking background, from beginner to advanced level, who want to improve their English for work, study or social purposes.
Program content is dependent on the needs of students.
The program provides experience and competence in a wide range of language functions needed for:
- Participation in the workplace
- Access to further study and training
- Participation in the community
- Independent self expression and critical thinking.

Pathways to Further Study
Students are advised to complete an English and study skills certificate at level 4 before going on to mainstream study.
Career Opportunities
Those students who achieve a certificate at level 3 are able to move into our Vocational Pathways Department to continue their English language and study skills training to assist them towards their goal of work or mainstream study.
Entrance Requirements
All applicants are interviewed before placement in the program.
Materials
Assessment Methods
There are no exams. Assessment is continuous and ongoing, focusing on the process of learning as well as the competency requirements of the modules of the ESL Framework and the Certificates in Spoken and Written English.
Materials
A range of materials and equipment are used during the course and students are provided with photocopied worksheets on a day-to-day basis.
