This training is based on the National Community Services/Disability Work Competency Standards and reflects the nationally endorsed industry requirements. The training is designed to provide skills and knowledge required to work within the disability services sector including supported employment, recreation, adult day support services, advocacy, respite and peer support programs.

Participants successfully completing this training may apply for entry into the Diploma of Community Services Work. Successful applicants may also apply for the Diploma or Advanced Diploma of Disability Work at other TAFE institutes.

Entrance Requirements
Prospective students are expected to have the literacy skills appropriate for both the demands of the training and the workplace. Applicants should be 18 years of age at the commencement of the course.

Before you can apply you must attend a compulsory information session. Session dates can be obtained by contacting the Health and Community Studies Department.
You will be given an application form at the information session which you will submit to the Health and Community Studies Department.
If you meet the selection criteria you will be invited to attend an interview at NMIT.
