This course is designed to provide the appropriate training for the industry qualification as a Veterinary Nurse in veterinary clinics. Whilst undertaking this qualification, students need to be employed at a veterinary nursing workplace to undertake on-the-job training.

Students who complete this course may go on to the elective areas of the Diploma of Veterinary Nursing once available at NMIT.

Career Opportunities

Graduates of this course provide support to veterinarians mainly in private veterinary clinics. These clinics now offer clients a diverse range of services giving veterinary nurses a wide range of tasks and duties.

Entrance Requirements

Students will need employment in this field of 15 hours paid employment (min) per week. An interview may be required upon acceptance of application. Students with a work placement/experience can apply for the Certificate II in Animal Studies which is a pathway to the Certificate IV in Veterinary Nursing once employed in a veterinary clinic.
