Diploma of Animal Technology

Care for animals in biomedical and educational environments - NMIT’s Diploma of Animal Technology provides you with the skills and knowledge is the industry qualification to undertake animal care and related animal technology functions within a biomedical research or production environment.

This course will open up career opportunities for animal technicians in a variety of roles, especially in science, research and educational facilities. You will begin in the Certificate III in Animal Technology as part of a pathway program to the diploma. 

 

When you have completed the pathway, you will be able to work with animals in universities, research institutes and hospitals.

 

Quality teaching with a welfare focus

 

You’ll have the opportunity to undertake work placement for a minimum of two weeks in a related animal facility.

 

At NMIT, practical experience is central to learning about animal husbandry. The staff at NMIT are highly experienced in this field and will support you to learn more about the husbandry and care of animals in the animal technology environment.

    Hi, I finished year 12 last year and completed certificate 2 in animal studies, don't no if it's true but I got told that you can skip cert 3 and get cert 4 just wondering if that's correct! Thank you

    Hi Kelsey, Great to see you have already completed your Certificate II in Animal Studies. The Certificate IV in Veterinary Nursing requires 15hrs paid emplyment as a prerequisite.
