A builder coordinates the construction of a building taking responsibility for the overall completion of the job, including selecting contractors, overseeing the work and its quality and liaising with the client. The builder may also be the appropriately licensed person with responsibility under the relevant building-licensing authority in the state.

The diploma course builds on the Cetificate IV and expands upon project management and the construction of medium-rise building projects.

Students completing the Certificate IV in Building and Construction (Building) may wish to further their studies in the Diploma or Advanced Diploma of Building & Construction. Students may be granted advanced standing for related units of competence. Students who successfully complete the Diploma may also seek entry and advanced standing in degree courses in building & construction offered by universities.

Career Opportunities

Graduates of these courses may gain employment at a paraprofessional level within the building & construction industry as a building & construction project supervisor, planner, co-ordinator or manager.

Certificate IV in Building & Construction (Building) or equivalent, or relevant industry experience.
