The course aims to provide participants with the practical and theoretical knowledge in the area of events , specialising in hospitality and venue management. The course provides practical training in food and beverage service, hospitality supervision and management, and the organisation and management of special events, meetings and conventions.

Students will be provided with training and education in a real life learning environment with the opportunity to be actively involved in organising events, as well as obtaining paid or volunteer work at festivals, conferences and major events. There is also an opportunity to gain hands on industry experience through casual paid employment at St Georges restaurant at the Preston campus.

Participants who complete the course can articulate into the Advanced Diploma of Hospitality and / or Tourism, and gain recognition for the units that have been successfully completed. The program may also articulate into university degree courses

Career Opportunities

Successful completion of this training program provides participants with the basic skills and knowledge to assist gaining employment in the meetings and events industry, or the general hospitality industry working in hotels, motels, restaurants, at the operational, supervisory or management levels

Local Students:

Successful completion of VCE. Prerequisites do not apply to mature age applicants.

International Students:

Australian year 12 (or recognised equivalent) or relevant work experience. IELTS 5.5 or higher (or recognised equivalents). Mature Age.
