The diploma provides education and training for people who are currently employed in the health science industry and wanting to develop skills necessary to perform a broad range of remedial, sports and therapeutic massage techniques; or those wishing to gain employment in the field.

Students train at the NMIT Massage Centre.

Students who complete the qualification and who also hold a current level 2 first aid certificate are eligible to apply for membership with various massage associations.

Please note: Assessment in this course requires students to give and receive massage. Students who cannot meet this requirement for any reason should not enrol in this course.

Employment can be gained through either self-employment or working with clubs, other health professions, hospitals, resorts and fitness centres.

Entrance Requirements

Local Students:

Completion of VCE or equivalent, or mature age. Prospective students may be required to attend an interview as part of the entrance requirement. Prospective students may also be required to submit to a police check. It is an advantage but not a requirement for prospective students to complete an introduction to massage course. Applicants for the course will be selected on the basis of their VCE ENTER score, employment, involvement in the massage industry and their previous education in massage. Please note: Assessment in this course requires students to give and receive massage. Students who cannot meet this requirement for any reason should not enrol in this course.

International Students:

Australian Year 12 (or recognised equivalent) or relevant work experience. IELTS 5.5 or higher (or recognised equivalents). Mature Age.
