This dual qualification provides the skills and knowledge to work within the retail sector in a range of outlets including specialty stores, department stores and pharmacies. The course covers a diverse range of competencies including customer service, merchandising products, stock control, using cash registers and EFTPOS. The dual qualification also includes ten pharmacy units which provide the skills and knowledge to understand the product range and the roles and responsibility of pharmacy assistants and pharmacists, and to provide appropriate product advice and/or referral.
This course will assist:
- People who wish to change career.
- People who have been absent for the workforce for a period of time and wish to refresh or acquire new skills.
- Secondary school leavers, in particular early school leavers.

Students who successfully complete all units of competency will be eligible to apply for entry to Certificate III in Retail and Certificate III in Community Pharmacy.

Retailing is a growth industry. The Dual Certificate II in Retail and Certificate II in Community Pharmacy will increase opportunities to gain employment by developing the skills and experience required in the retail industry, particularly in pharmacies, as a Sales Assistant.

Assessment Methods
Assessment is competency based. Competencies can be assessed in a variety of ways including tests, practical exercises, case studies, demonstrations, observation, role plays or assignments. Satisfactory completion of each competency will be required for the qualification.
