This VCAL LinkED Salvation Army program is offered through the Youth Unit.
The VCAL LinkED program will be offered at Foundation or Intermediate level.
This program is offered in partnership with the Salvation Army/Brunswick Youth Services Program. It is designed for those 'at risk' young people who require extra assistance to restart their education. It has an emphasis on supporting students into their post-VCAL pathway.
The program is located at the Salvation Army's Brunswick Youth Services offices.
The VCAL program is an accredited senior school completion certificate designed for young people who have a strong desire to undertake vocational training but whose literacy and numeracy skills may not be at the level required to undertake mainstream study, education or employment. Students are provided with extra support for their literacy and numeracy needs, as well as developing their employability skills.
The program is suitable for students who require supported development of literacy, numeracy and communication skills in order to go onto further study, apprenticeships or employment.
Students are required to participate in a work experience program during the year. Careers counselling will be an integral part of the program.
NMIT also offers other VCAL programs through the Youth Unit.
