The VCAL Ticket to a Trade program is offered through the Youth Unit, in conjunction with the Building Structures and Services Department.
This VCAL program is offered at Foundation, Intermediate or Senior level.
Students will be enrolled in VCAL units (literacy, numeracy, personal development and work-related skills) in the first semester of the program. On successful completion, students can apply for a range of pre-apprenticeship positions. They will then complete the pre-apprenticeship application process for the second semester intake of that particular pre-apprenticeship.
On successful completion of both the Semester 1 VCAL program and Semester 2 pre-apprenticeship, students will be eligible for their VCAL certificate as well as their pre-apprenticeship certificate.
This program will be repeated in Semester 2 with a new group commencing VCAL to become ready to apply for a pre-apprenticeship position for 2012.
NMIT also offers other VCAL programs through the Youth Unit.
