Skills Recognition acknowledges previous learning and current competence from participant’s relevant life, work experience, formal education and/or professional development. The evidence supplied must be valid, current, authentic and sufficient.
In order to apply for Skills Recognition you will need to self-assess your skills and knowledge and provide a portfolio of relevant evidence to support your application. Evidence may include:
- examples of work/work records
- training you have undertaken
- assessments of current skills/current knowledge
- photographs, videos, letters and reports
- relevant credentials such as awards, certificates, statements of attainment and qualifications
- employer references
- letters from clients or members of work teams
- copy of current resume including referees

The Skills Recognition process requires participants to attend a one hour interview with a BEC assessor at NMIT Preston campus. A Skills Recognition kit will be supplied to participant prior to interview.
Cost $55 per qualification (to be paid in full at interview).
