How much does it cost?

This depends on whether the trainee is a "new employee" or "existing employee" NMIT in conjunction with an Australian Apprenticeship Centre can assist you in sourcing appropriate state and federal government financial support for training.

Workplace Assessment

Looking for formal qualifications to support your industry training?

This faculty has a number of Industry trained assessors who can visit your premises and assess you or your staff for a nominal sum. Qualifications can be gained in individual modules or in a full certificate.

Assessment is not difficult and takes the form of a on site visit where through observation. questioning and sometimes formal testing, the required level of competency can be achieved.

All qualifications are nationally accredited by NMIT.

Assessments can be done for as little as one staff member or your whole staff. The rates for assessment are very competitive.

On Site Training

Looking for training but can't get to NMIT? Let us come to you.

Training can be completed on the job in all areas of Tourism, Cookery and Hospitality. We can train employers and their staff in areas such as the latest computer packages, the Responsible Service of Alcohol, wine knowledge and cook chill techniques to name a few.

All training is done by qualified and Industry trained staff and can be done for small or large groups on site at a time to suit you. Rates are very competitive and can be done hourly or by the course.

Traineeships offered in Hospitality

SIT20207 Certificate lI in Hospitality
(Workplace and / or classroom delivery)
This qualification provides the skills and knowledge for a trainee to be competent in a range of activities and functions requiring basic operational knowledge and limited practical skills in various hospitality settings, such as restaurants, hotels, motels, catering operations, clubs, pubs, cafes and coffee shops.

SIT20307 Certificate lI in Hospitality (Kitchen Operations)
(Workplace and / or classroom delivery)
This qualification provides the skills and knowledge for trainee to be competent in a range of kitchen functions and activities that require the application of a limited range of practical skills. Work would be undertaken in various hospitality enterprises where food is prepared and served, including restaurants, hotels, catering operations, clubs, pubs, cafes, cafeterias and coffee shops.

SIT30707 Certificate III Hospitality
 (Workplace and / or classroom delivery)
This qualification provides the skills and knowledge for a trainee to be competent in skilled operations. Work would be undertaken in various hospitality settings, such as restaurants, hotels, motels, clubs, pubs, cafes and coffee shops. Individuals may have some responsibility for others and provide technical advice and support to a team

SIT40307 Certificate lV in Hospitality
(Workplace and / or classroom delivery)
This qualification provides the skills and knowledge for a trainee to be competent in skilled operations and team leading or supervision. Work would be undertaken in various hospitality settings such as restaurants, hotels, motels, clubs, pubs, cafes and coffee shops.

SIT40407 Certificate lV in Hospitality (Commercial Cookery)
(Workplace and / or classroom delivery)
This qualification provides the skills and knowledge for an individual to be competent as a qualified chef or cook in a supervisory or team leading role in the kitchen. Work would be undertaken in various kitchen settings, such as in restaurants, hotels, clubs, pubs, cafes, cafeterias and coffee shops.
The qualification is suitable for an Australian apprenticeship pathway.

SIT30607 Certificate III in Events
(Workplace and / or classroom delivery)
This qualification provides the skills and knowledge for a trainee to be competent in an administrative or operational events support role. Event organisation and management takes place across the full spectrum of business and community activity. The qualification has particular relevance in the community, cultural, hospitality, sporting and tourism sectors.
Work would be undertaken in an office environment where event planning and organisation takes place, at an event site or a combination of both.

SIT31007 Certificate III in Hospitality (Catering
Operations)
(Combination workplace and classroom delivery)
This qualification provides the skills and knowledge for a trainee to be competent in a range of skilled catering operations Work could be undertaken in various catering settings such as hospitals and aged care facilities, sporting and entertainment venues, hotel banqueting departments, cook–chill production kitchens and mobile catering businesses of varying size.

SIT31107 Certificate III in Hospitality (Patisserie)
(Combination workplace and classroom delivery)
This qualification provides the skills and knowledge for a trainee to be competent as a qualified cook who specialises in patisserie. Work could be undertaken in various hospitality enterprises where patisserie products are prepared and served, including patisseries, restaurants, hotels, catering operations, clubs, pubs, cafes and coffee shops.
