Media Alert - NMIT Music Industry student wins record deal
21 September 2012
What a coup for NMIT (Northern Melbourne Institute of TAFE) Bachelor of Music Industry (BMI) for student, Dominique Brown!
The second year singer/songwriter studies at NMIT's Fairfield campus and has won a record deal with the City of Darebin's, Decibels Records.
She was chosen out of a massive field of aspiring artists, and her first semester demo from the BMI songwriting program started the ball rolling.
The City of Darebin label was overwhelmed by Dominique's moving songs and stellar voice.
Darebin City Council's Decibels Records initiative is a youth-led program for young people interested in pursuing a career within the music industry. Now in its second year, the program aims to provide opportunities for participants to gain first hand, practical experience in the various elements of establishing, maintaining and being signed to an independent record label.
Dominique launches her debut E.P. for Decibels at 7 pm on Friday September 28 at Northcote Town Hall.
All media enquiries should be directed to the NMIT Communications Officer, James Gardener, on (03) 92691579, 0413 483 182 or firstname.lastname@example.org
