News - 2011 Foundation VCAL Students Win VCAL TEAM Achievement Award
28 May 2012
A team of VCAL students from the Youth Unit are the successful winners of the state-wide VCAL Team Achievement Award 2011. The VCAA / VCAL Award Ceremony was held on Thursday May 10th 2012 at BMW Edge in Federation Square and the students were presented with a trophy from the Minister for Education - Martin Dixon. Each student also received a certificate to add to their resume and a $100 Myer voucher.
The group was nominated by their teacher, Pierina Sassella, for their effort in planning, organising and running a Driver Safety Seminar for young drivers as part of their Personal Development Skills unit. The seminar involved guest speakers who focussed on crash site first aid, driver risk reduction and tips for buying a safe used car and all who attended received 'show bags' filled with Driver Education material.
The team demonstrated outstanding initiative, teamwork and problem solving skills throughout the project and gained a deeper sense of purpose in their studies and greater level of confidence in their own abilities.
Congratulations to the students and to Pierina for the time and effort spent in nominating the students and her support throughout the project.
