News - Song City workshop performances and CD launch on this weekend

The NMIT (Northern Melbourne Institute of TAFE) Bachelor of Music Industry program and APRA present 'Song City' - a two-day festival celebrating songwriting and the history of the Melbourne song.

Saturday 27 and Sunday 28 October.

Saturday

11am - 3pm
Your Song Matters Songwriting workshop - aspiring songwriters get to workshop their songs with established writers and perform their work. (catered lunch included)

4pm - 5pm
The History of the Melbourne Song - lecture by a special guest!

5pm - 6pm
Reception in the B Space Galley with nibbles, refreshments and NMIT wine.

6pm - 7:30pm
The Gratuitous Melbourne References Concert with Angie Hart (Frente!), Bedroom Philosopher, Greg Arnold (Things of Stone and Wood), Pete Farnan (Boom Crash Opera), Carus Thompson and more! - classic Melbourne songs performed by their writers!

Sunday

“We Went Down to the River” Album Launch (2pm - 5pm) showcasing performances from first and second year NMIT songwriting students along with the launch of a double CD. Taking place in the picturesque Fairfield Amphitheatre (weather permitting - will be moved to Yarra Edge Theatre)
