News - Wireless Access Project nears completion

The Wireless Network is coming and very soon now! The project to build Wireless access for portable devices across all buildings on all campuses is nearing completion.
The project is funded by the Australian Government through the Teaching and Learning Capital Fund (TLCF) for Vocational Education and Training (VET).
Recently the NMIT Child Studies program area located on the Preston Campus ran a very successful pilot class with a limited form of the full scale Wireless Network. Students were able to bring their laptops into the classroom in an area of the campus that has no wired network at all and access the Internet as part of their lesson.
Behind the scenes there is a flurry of activity as finishing touches are made to how NMIT will be offering this service to all staff and students.
Currently being finalised are the plans and documentation covering topics like:
- How to connect to the Wireless Network
- What to do when a connection is not possible.
- Where to go for help and information.
- How and where to print from a wireless device.
Once we are able to offer this service to you in a reliable and supportable way, the Wireless Network will be opened up to all NMIT staff and students. For more information visit the Wireless Access webpage.
