The Certificate 1 in Live Production, Theatre & Events (Ignition Theatre Traning) NMIT will be presenting a short puppetry performance and workshop at the Bow WOW! Festival 2009.

Groups and individuals (16-30 years) are invited to book into the workshop on Monday 1st June, 12.45-2.15pm. It's Free.

Innovation Victoria (INNOVIC) Next Big Thing Award
Locksmithing division staff members Ray Ng and Max Cherry have been announced as 2009 finalists of Innovation Victoria (INNOVIC) Next Big Thing Award. Ray and Max have developed the Raymax lock system that provides a biometric interface between the user and a conventional mechanical lock using finger prints for operation. The 25 finalists were selected from nearly 300 applications, and as finalists Ray and Max have won the right to display their innovation at the Melbourne Museum. The exhibition opens on the 30th May and closes on the 12th July and is free to attend. The exhibition was viewed by over 76,000 people in 2008.

1 - 5 June Bachelor of Illustration Poster Exhibition
The Bachelor of Illustration are having a Poster Exhibition @ B-Space Gallery, Fairfield Campus, Yarra Bend Road Fairfield in Building B. The Bachelor of Australian Popular Music are hosting a music improvisation master class with a visiting UK Musician and have engaged the services of the Bachelor of Illustration students to create posters.

Feeding the Big Cats ...
A photo shoot will take place at 1.30 pm on Wednesday 10 June at the Royal Melbourne Zoo to highlight NMIT's involvement in delivering bandsaw training to Zoo staff responsible for preparing meat rations for the carnivores.

Shannon Combridge, Technical Officer of the Meat/Fish Training Facility at Epping Campus, will help Zoo attendants feed the Big Cats. Shannon Combridge can be contacted on Ext. 1159 or shannoncombridge@nmit.vic.edu.au

Illustrators Australia - celebrating 20 years of Illustration (1989 - 2009) Opening night
During the Northern Exposure Festival - Illustrators Australia is exhibiting at Northcote Town Hall. Celebrating 20 years of illustration Opening night Friday 19th June 6pm.

Artwork is included by Stephen Pascoe, a lecturer in the Bachelor of Illustration NMIT. On the opening night there will be music played by a small NMIT jazz ensemble.
