Interior Shopfitting
In 2008 the Design Drafting and Interior Fittings Department at NMIT organised for two groups of third-year shopfitting apprentices to build and fit out two full size shops. The project was undertaken in consultation with a few of the larger employers who choose NMIT as their preferred trainer.
Twelve apprentices participated in the project which involved training and assessment in a number of competencies in the shopfitting package. “I think the guys really enjoyed the project, they are used to working to deadlines at work so it made our job a lot easier,we just had to keep the work up to them,” said Roger Bain, the shopfitting program coordinator at NMIT.
