Renewable Energy at Epping Campus
Deborah Porter - Renewable Energy student
Deb Porter had more than a vocational interest in Renewable Energy Technology before she enrolled at NMIT. She gained significant personal satisfaction during the course - Certificate IV in Renewable Energy Technology - as most of what she learned she applied in her own home.
"I bought a 25 acre block of land in North West Victoria and was moving a weatherboard home onto the site. I learned how to retro-fit and install renewable energy technologies such as photovoltaic (solar) modules and a solar hot water system," Deb reports.
"My course has provided me with best-practice examples of innovative sustainability options. I have been impressed by the specialist knowledge of the teaching staff and their willingness to share their expertise." Read more...

Renewable Energy Wind Turbine at Epping Campus
NMIT Epping campus boasts a state-of-the-art wind turbine that helps students join the battle against global warming through hands-on training in renewable energy technology.
The 6-metre wind turbine provides students with a completely new dimension in the study of renewable energy technology. It produces 3 kilowatts of power to go straight into the Melbourne power grid. The NMIT Epping facility is the only training facility with permission to allow students to build installations that feed directly into the Victorian power grid as part of their training.
The installation of the turbine enhances the reputation of NMIT Epping campus as Australia’s leading centre for training in renewable energy technology. Read more...
