NMIT's Faculty of Earth Sciences' major involvement with this year's Seymour Alternative Farming Expo (SAFE), comprised 21 seminars attracting 260 attendees at SAFE over three days from Friday February 20.
NMIT's Horticulture and Agriculture & Animal Science teaching staff delivered a number of seminar sessions covering the following topic areas:
- Cattle Management for Small Properties
- Pasture, Weed and Pest management
- Horses (including pasture management, industry career options and physiology)
- Aquaculture
- Environmental Landscaping
- Hydroponics
- Wine Varieties
- Olives and Blueberries
In addition to the seminar program, NMIT and the event's organisers developed the concept of the NMIT Ag Zone - a dedicated agricultural information/display precinct, which brought together a number of service providers, animal breed organizations/producers and merchandisers within one dedicated location, under the NMIT banner.
The Faculty had a major display presence within this location and staff tended to a constant stream of general enquiries throughout SAFE.
The Boer goat seminar delivered by Sue Bryant, National President of the Boer Goat Breeders’ Association of Australia, was one of the many well attended seminars at the NMIT Ag Zone. Visit the Photo Gallery to view more images
