Northern Melbourne Institute of TAFE (NMIT) offers you the opportunity to undertake a part-time course in animal management.

The course is offered as a series of weekend workshops at NMIT's farm at Yan Yean as well as some theory sessions at Epping Campus.

Introduction to Cattle husbandry. Cattle Industry requirements diseases symptoms and prevention and control - zoonoses

Sat 27th March - 8.30am-430pm Yan Yean
Basic beef handling, points of cattle and industry criteria. Muster and yard beef cattle, drafting cattle, Cattle yards, safe handling systems. Vaccinate cattle, Parasite control. This is a hands-on practical day.

Wed 21st April - 6-9pm Epping
Intro to Sheep husbandry. Sheep breeds and their uses markets, routine husbandry and health care diseases symptoms and prevention and control - zoonoses.

Sat 24th April - 8.30am-430pm Yan Yean
Sheep husbandry practical crutching and shearing and health treatments: drenching and vaccinating Foot care, Internal Parasite control.

Wed 28th April - 6-9pm Epping
Introduction the goat industry - meat or milk production? Parasites, diseases symptoms and prevention and control - zoonoses.

Sat 1st May - 8.30am-430pm Yan Yean
Goat husbandry practical day. Flock care and husbandry treatments, Nutritional requirements, Industry, contacts and Networks.
