The building industry is currently booming so there is a lot of demand for carpenters. So if you enjoy working with your hands, why not try one of our carpentry courses?

They include certificate courses in both:

  • pre-apprenticeship
  • apprenticeship

The carpentry pre-apprenticeship is an intensive training program in NMIT’s purpose-built building barn at Heidelberg.

Successful completion of this course leads into an apprenticeship in:

  • carpentry
  • framework
  • formwork
  • finishing

Trainees undertaking an apprenticeship program are employed by carpenters and will train:

  • on-site with their employer
  • off-site at NMIT

Certificate II in Joinery Shopfitting Stairbuilding (Pre-apprenticeship)

If you are a ‘hands on’ person and like to see the solid end result of your work, joinery is for you. This course can be taken as part of a combined qualification with the Certificate II in Furniture Making.
