This qualification is designed to reflect the role of employees who perform duties such as: completion of BAS and other office taxes, operational reporting, production of basic management reports, production of basic job costing reports, preparation of budgets, supervising the operation of computer based systems, classifying, recording and reporting of accounting information, maintaining inventory records, managing a small office and making decisions in a legal context.

Diploma of Accounting

Learn about introducing and maintaining accounting systems, maintaining internal control systems, preparing financial statements for reporting entities, preparing tax returns, reporting on business performance, managing small teams, developing business plans and preparing management accounting reports. The course covers subjects in the areas of law, information management, economics, statistics and management, accounting information systems, risk management and corporate governance, management accounting, company law, corporate accounting, financial management and taxation law compliance. NMIT staff come from a diverse range of academia and business and are highly qualified to deliver a quality program designed to meet student needs and industry demand.

Bachelor of Accounting

This course has been developed to meet the growing demand for business professionals with qualifications in the areas of accounting and sustainable business. It is ideal for those wishing to combine a mainstream accounting course with a sustainability and environmental management focus. The course includes traditional Accounting subjects covering General Accounting, Corporate Accounting, Management Accounting, Auditing and Taxation and Financial Management whilst at the same time providing a focus on environmental sustainability through subjects such as Introduction to Sustainability Studies, Environmental Law and Environmental Economics and Policy. Students who successfully complete an Associate Degree of Accounting are eligible to be accepted directly into the Bachelor of Accounting.

Certificate III in Accounts Administration

This course is part of the Financial Services Training Package, which has been designed to provide skilled staff for the growing finance sector. Provides practical training in accounts payable/receivable, payroll preparation, cash handling, bookkeeping, financial reports, and business-activity statements. Developed under the Australian Qualifications Framework in close consultation with industry and professional associations. This is a nationally endorsed qualification.

Certificate IV in Bookkeeping

If you want to be part of the new generation of competent bookkeepers in the growing financial sector, NMIT's Certificate IV in Bookkeeping is ideal. The course meets the minimum requirements under the Tax Agent Services Act 2009 for those seeking a career as a registered BAS agent.

Diploma of Financial Planning
