Attaining an adequate level of literacy and numeracy can greatly improve your social life, and education and career prospects. NMIT’s Adult Literacy and Numeracy courses are designed for adults who had to leave school early but now want to improve their basic reading, writing and numeracy skills.
Adults of all ages and backgrounds take these courses, and are surprised at how quickly they can improve their spoken English. This training can make your life a lot easier, at the workplace, or carrying out daily activities like banking, visiting the doctor or reading the newspaper. Some particular highlights of these courses include:
- Clients may be eligible for training through the Language, Literacy and Numeracy Program (LLNP) funding and can be referred by Centrelink or Job Services Australia providers
- The department offers vocational support and endeavours to cater to individual needs by entering into partnerships with other main stream departments. Examples of this are ESL programs with employment focuses such as aged care, child care, information technology, retail and hospitality.
