      Certificate II in Animal Studies

      This course will give you the skills to be an animal attendant in an animal care environment. Learn about subjects ranging from care and maintenance of animals to rehabilitation of native wildlife. Highlights of the Animal Studies courses include simulated facilities and science rooms.

      Certificate III in Animal Technology

      The Certificate III in Animal Technology is the industry qualification offered to international students for persons operating at a junior or assistant level and undertaking animal technology functions within a scientific environment. This course is only available to international students, on a full-time basis. Gain a range of skills such as biological laboratory procedures and preparing anaesthesia for animals.

      Diploma of Animal Technology

      This course gives you the skills required for a career as an animal technician, developing your understanding of subjects such as simple breeding procedures and behavioural enrichment for animals, to managing a small team. Highlights of the Animal Studies courses include practical facilities and science rooms at NMIT's Fairfield campus.

      Certificate III in Companion Animal Services

      Gain the industry qualification required for employment within a companion animal organisation. Develop the skills required for tasks such as handling companion animals, husbandry and nutrition. Topics covered include companion animal selection, and basic animal first aid. Completion of up to a two-week work placement in a companion animal workplace is a drawcard of this course.

      Certificate IV in Veterinary Nursing

      Learn the skills to perform a range of tasks for a career in veterinary nursing, including daily clinic routines, surgery preparations, radiography, dental and theatre routines. Completion of the course requires that students be employed at a veterinary nursing workplace to undertake on-the-job training.
