Associate Degree of Accounting

The Associate Degree of Accounting now leads directly into the Bachelor of Accounting. The course covers subjects in the areas of law, information management, economics, statistics and management, accounting information systems, risk management and corporate governance, management accounting, company law, corporate accounting, financial management and taxation law compliance. NMIT staff come from a diverse range of academia and business and are highly qualified to deliver a quality program designed to meet student needs and industry demand.

Bachelor of Accounting

This course has been developed to meet the growing demand for business professionals with qualifications in the areas of accounting and sustainable business. It is ideal for those wishing to combine a mainstream accounting course with a sustainability and environmental management focus. The course includes traditional Accounting subjects covering General Accounting, Corporate Accounting, Management Accounting, Auditing and Taxation and Financial Management whilst at the same time providing a focus on environmental sustainability through subjects such as Introduction to Sustainability Studies, Environmental Law and Environmental Economics and Policy. Students who successfully complete an Associate Degree of Accounting are eligible to be accepted directly into the Bachelor of Accounting.

Associate Degree of Agriculture and Land Management

The associate degree comprises the first two years of the three-year Bachelor of Agriculture and Land Management degree. Gain skills and knowledge in: agricultural technologies, soil science, water management, animals and plants, business and sustainability. NMIT’s facilities include a 360 hectare working commercial farm at Yan Yean.

Associate Degree of Aquaculture and Environmental Management

NMIT is the first Melbourne metropolitan region TAFE institute to establish a full-time course in applied aquaculture and aquatic environmental management at the associate degree level. This two-year qualification is a hands-on, vocational program designed to allow participants to make an instant impact upon entering the aquaculture, environmental management or related industries.

The new Associate Degree of Early Years Studies is a two-year (full-time) qualification that provides the skills and industry qualifications to be employed as a qualified educator within children’s services. The early years of a child’s life are defined as from birth to 8 years and a NMIT Early Years Studies graduate will be registered as a qualified educator within children’s services. Continue on to study the Bachelor of of Early Years Studies or Bachelor of Education (Early Years).

The new Bachelor of Early Years Studies is a three-year (full-time) teaching degree that provides the skills and industry qualifications to be employed as a teacher within children’s services. The early years of a child’s life are defined as from birth to 8 years and a NMIT Early Years Studies graduate will be registered as a teacher in kindergartens and within children’s services more broadly.

Bachelor of Education (Early Years)

The new Bachelor of Education (Early Years) is a four-year (full-time) teaching degree that provides the skills and industry qualifications to be employed as a teacher across the early years spectrum. The early years of a child’s life are defined as from birth to 8 years. An NMIT Education (Early Years) graduate teacher will be registered to teach in primary schools (as an early years specialist for Grades Prep - 2), in kindergartens and within children’s services more broadly.

Associate Degree of Equine Studies

Equine Studies is a specialised animal science that in combination with aspects of business management is essential for the successful operation of an equine enterprise. Studying NMIT’s Associate Degree of Equine Studies will develop the specialist knowledge and skills required to actively participate in the equine industry either in the breeding of horses or athletic pursuits such as racing or competition of horses.

Associate Degree of Music

The Associate Degree of Music is an embedded exit point at the completion of the second year of the Bachelor of Music. To gain this qualification, students must complete all first and second year subjects of the Bachelor program. Associate Degree of Tertiary Studies

The Associate Degree of Tertiary Studies provides an alternative pathway into higher education. This two-year associate degree provides strong grounding in academic and foundational learning. There are introductory studies in sociology and history in the first year, followed by contemporary literature, media and communication, Australian and Asian studies, environmental studies, natural science, history and philosophy in the second. Graduates are well equipped with general and transferable skills, all of which are keenly sought after by employers in a broad range of industries and are core requirements of degree level study.

Associate Degree of Viticulture and Winemaking

Viticulture is the production of premium quality grapes and covers vineyard establishment and harvesting, involving the design construction and management of vineyards. Winemaking involves the processing of the grapes, bottling and the marketing of wine. This course provides you with extensive knowledge of vineyard design and management through to harvesting operations, along with how to process, bottle and market the wine that is produced.
