Associate Degree of Early Years Studies

The new Associate Degree of Early Years Studies is a two-year (full-time) qualification that provides the skills and industry qualifications to be employed as a qualified educator within children’s services. The early years of a child’s life are defined as from birth to 8 years and a NMIT Early Years Studies graduate will be registered as a qualified educator within children’s services. Continue on to study the Bachelor of of Early Years Studies or Bachelor of Education (Early Years).

Bachelor of Early Years Studies

The new Bachelor of Early Years Studies is a three-year (full-time) teaching degree that provides the skills and industry qualifications to be employed as a teacher within children’s services.  The early years of a child’s life are defined as from birth to 8 years and a NMIT Early Years Studies graduate will be registered as a teacher in kindergartens and within children’s services more broadly. 

Bachelor of Education (Early Years)

The new Bachelor of Education (Early Years) is a four-year (full-time) teaching degree that provides the skills and industry qualifications to be employed as a teacher across the early years spectrum.  The early years of a child’s life are defined as from birth to 8 years. An NMIT Education (Early Years) graduate teacher will be registered to teach in primary schools (as an early years specialist for Grades Prep - 2), in kindergartens and within children’s services more broadly. 

Certificate III in Education Support

This course qualifies you to works as a teacher aide or education support worker as well as offering English language support. This is a pathway to employment where your bilingual skills would be highly valued in our multi-cultural classrooms. This program comprises the Certificate III in Education Support offered in conjunction with modules from the English for Teacher Aide stream of the Certificate III in ESL (Employment).

Associate Degree of Tertiary Studies

The Associate Degree of Tertiary Studies provides an alternative pathway into higher education. This two-year associate degree provides strong grounding in academic and foundational learning. There are introductory studies in sociology and history in the first year, followed by contemporary literature, media and communication, Australian and Asian studies, environmental studies, natural science, history and philosophy in the second. Graduates are well equipped with general and transferable skills, all of which are keenly sought after by employers in a broad range of industries and are core requirements of degree level study.
