Certificate II in Data and Voice Communications

This course is intended to give the participant who completes the Certificate II in Electrotechnology Studies (Pre-Appenticeship) the opportunity to apply for the ACMA, CPR "Open Registration" Cabling License on completion of the course. The course also offers participants enhanced skills and increased confidence to apply for opportunities within the Electrotechnology Industry in the areas of Apprenticeships/Traineeships, with a focus on continued studies in Certificate III in Electrotechnology - Electrician or Certificate III in Data and Voice Communications.

Certificate II in Electrotechnology Studies - Pre-Apprenticeship

This course is intended to give the participant exposure to the various trades which come under the electrical industry umbrella. The course provides the opportunity to understand the electrical trades industry terminology, basic circuitry and colour coding which enables the student to communicate with prospective employers.

Certificate III in Electrical Machine Repair - Apprenticeship

This qualification provides competencies to overhaul and repair motor, transformer and control gear including rewinding. The course will commence in 2008.

Certificate III in Electrotechnology Electrician - Apprenticeship

This qualification provides competencies to select, install, set up, fault find, repair and maintain electrical systems and equipment in buildings and premises. It includes Electrical Regulatory Authorities Council (ERAC) requirements for an ‘electrician’s licence’. The course will commence in 2009.

Certificate IV in Electrical

This qualification provides competencies in electrical business management and contracting, programmable logic controllers, motor control and mechatronics. To be eligible for the award of the Certificate IV in Electrical, learners must complete five units from the seven offered by NMIT.
